Statement of Commitment as an Instructor

Students will have a set scheduled day and time for their lesson where they will have my attention, knowledge, and experience at their disposal. I am committed to providing the student’s regular scheduled lesson every week for up to 48 out of 52 weeks per year.

Rescheduling and Make-Ups Disclaimer

Rescheduling or Making Up a missed lesson can never be guaranteed. With proper notice of at least 1 week, I am usually able to make some concessions and adjustments to my schedule so as to offer possible alternative lesson times in a given week. I ask that students attempt to do the same in order to attend and help maintain the very important consistency of a regular weekly lesson, especially when a lesson will be missed on short notice due to illness or emergency on the student’s part.

Expectations of the Student for Commitment to Lessons

Speaking as a musician who did not have a single private lesson until becoming a music major in college, I feel it important to emphasize how privileged a musician is to receive private music instruction. I believe that all students have a duty and obligation to make the most of their fortunate situation and obtain the full value of the investment in lessons. Ways to fulfill this obligation include: PRACTICING, listening attentively during lessons, asking questions, and respectfully considering whatever guidance and suggestions you are given by your instructor.
